Have you ever wondered how Australia came to be the most multicultural country in the world? There are many aspects that have shaped Australia into the nation that it is today. A major impact of this is migration. For this presentation, the migrant group that will be discussed is the Italians, who had a mass migration to Australia beginning in 1951. Italian migrants have had a significant impact on the political and cultural aspects of Australia since they migrated there from 1945 and onwards. According to the accurate Oxford Dictionary, a migrant is “A person who moves from one place to another in order to find work or better living conditions”. It also defines a political policy as “An action that is pursued by the Government of Australia”. On the other hand, the culture of a country is “the ideas, customs and social behaviour of a particular people or society”. This can include food habits, religion, art, music, language, sport and architecture.
