Look closely at how George and Lennie speak and behave here. What does it reveal about their relationship?
The way George and Lennie speak and behave in the extract reveals that they have a close relationship, the quote “Lennie crawled slowly and cautiously around the fire until he was close to George” reveals that Lennie seeks comfort in George and that he sees George as someone who is important to him, as he chooses to sit close to him.
Additionally, their relationship is like that of a father and a son, shown when George asks Lennie “Whatta you want?” this tells the reader that the tone George uses with Lennie would not be acceptable with any other person, only with Lennie because of their close bond.
Furthermore, when Lennie says “George. I’d leave it all for you.” It illustrates that Lennie would do anything for George, and would be willing to make sacrifices for George. This tells the reader that the pair has a very close friendship.
